- Aws Mohammed Naser, 38, formerly of Westland, Mich., was sentenced on May 7 to 20 years in prison after a jury convicted him of twice attempting to provide material support to ISIS and of being a felon in possession of a destructive device.
- Prosecutors said Naser became radicalized online in his early 20s, posted Salafi-jihadist content online, traveled to Iraq in 2012 with Russell Dennison, “an aspiring Salafi-Jihadist preacher,” and twice tried to leave the United States to join fighters in Syria, according to the Department of Justice.
