Shiite organizations in Virginia and Michigan recently celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in Iran that brought the terrorism-sponsoring theocratic regime to power.

The Manassas Mosque in Virginia

Making the mosque’s promotion of the Iranian regime’s ideology even worse is the propagandizing of the young. The announcement of the event says it includes “poetry and spoken word by our youth.” It even includes a “3-D exhibition on the timeline of events leading up to the revolution.”

The mosque has a full-time Islamic Community School operating since 2004, which offers private education for students from Pre-School to 5th Grade. In addition, the mosque has a Sunday School program for children as young as five years old.

The Manassas Mosque received $53,000 in 2005 and $140,000 in 2004 from the Alavi Foundation, a known front for the Iranian regime and its propaganda efforts.

The resident imam of the Manassas Mosque, Abofazl Nahidian, is a virulent conspiracy theorist.

A report from MEMRI TV shows Nahidian placing the responsibility for 9/11 on Israel. “September 11 was not done by Muslims. It was done by the plot of the Zionists, in order to justify their occupying the land of the Muslims, such as Afghanistan, such as Iraq, such as now Pakistan,” Nahidian said.

He also was a speaker at the December 2018 conference of the Muslim Students Association-Persian Speakers Group, another front for the regime. It was identified by the FBI as a cutout for the Iranian regime’s intelligence and propaganda operations as early as 1984.

The Association for Spiritual Renewal, led by the radical by Sheikh Usama Abdulghani, organized an event in support of the Iranian Islamic Revolution at the Islamic Library of Dearborn.

Abdulghani preaches to Muslims that they should follow the leaders of Iran and the Hezbollah terrorist organization into battle. In one sermon, Abdulghani mentioned that he was taught by Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah when he was in Qom, Iran.

H.J. Ali Reza Panahiyan is described by the Los Angeles Times as the “head of the supreme leader’s think tank for universities.”

He is a known adversary of the Iranians protesting for greater freedom and human rights, whom he accused of “sedition.” In 2010, he urged the regime to purge “liberal-minded and clean-shaven” people from the government. Panahiyan even endorsed violent suppression of the peaceful Iranian opposition.

“Under such conditions, some people may mistakenly regret unjust blood-spilling, which would occur in the midst of combat on sedition. But a single case of unjust blood-spilling is far less important than the reputation of the Islamic Republic,” he said.

Perhaps the reason the U.S. is more hospitable ground for spreading the Iranian Islamic Revolution than Iran itself is because of ignorance. Those who know it the best—the Iranians, the Iraqis, and others in the Middle East—detest it the most.
