  • A federal grand jury in the Eastern District of North Carolina indicted former FBI Director James Comey, 65, on April 28 on charges related to alleged threats to harm President Donald J. Trump.
  • The indictment alleges Comey publicly posted an Instagram image on May 15, 2025, depicting “86 47,” which prosecutors said a reasonable recipient familiar with the circumstances would interpret as a serious expression of intent to harm the president.
  • Comey is charged with threatening the president and transmitting a threat in interstate commerce; if convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. The DOJ noted that an indictment is an accusation and he is presumed innocent. READ MORE
