- Jack Vafi, 27, of Seattle, was charged with two counts of a hate crime after prosecutors said he targeted a Black QFC grocery store worker in Ballard with racial slurs and his vehicle.
- Court documents said Vafi shouted racial slurs at the employee inside the store, then got into his car in the parking garage, lined the vehicle up with the worker and drove toward him, forcing the employee to jump out of the way.
- Prosecutors said Vafi returned the next morning, told the worker, “I don’t like you because you’re Black,” and threatened to return with a gun. He pleaded not guilty and remains in custody on $50,000 bail. READ MORE Â
