Close to 3,000 Yazidis have settled in Lincoln, Nebraska. Some fled ethnic persecution years ago and successfully integrated into the American way of life. Others sought refuge after working for the American military in Iraq. They, along with community services, are providing support to newly-arrived immigrants who carry with them the recent traumas inflicted on the Yazidi community by ISIS which ravaged their land and people in Iraq beginning in the summer of 2014.
