You can watch in amusement and horror are violence erupts in an Indian TV studio when a religious leader loses his cool with female co-panelists.

The trouble kicks off during a discussion of women’s rights in Islam and the instant divorce in particular. One of the female interviewees launches a verbal attack on men who deal unjustly with women. At this point, the maulana (male religious leader) on the show names the woman’s father and says that he must be doing this as well.

On hearing this accusation, the woman bursts into tears.

A second woman challenges the maulana saying “you people are responsible.”

At this point he first abuses her verbally and then launches a volley of slaps.

Police officers were called to the studios of Zee TV where they arrested the maulana.
