U.S. General: Unprecedented Levels of Violent Extremism in Homeland

Despite American military successes overseas, there’s an unprecedented wave of “domestic and homegrown violent extremists on our own soil. That’s according to National Counterterrorism Center Strategic Operational Planning Director Lt.-Gen Michael K. Nagata. He made the comment during an address to the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.

While the U.S. and its allies are doing a lot to “disrupt” terror more must be done to “reduce” terrorism, said Nagata. He spoke of 1,000 investigations currently underway across all 50 states.
