Yesterday at 1pm EDT Clarion Project joined a Twitter chat with 'Girls Globe' and others to #endFGM.

We would like to thank everyone who participated for bringing their voices and enthusiasm to the discussion.

Our first question asked how many women are affected by FGM worldwide.

We spoke about how the practice has spread to immigrant communities in the West.

We asked about cultural barriers to ending FGM.

Elham Manea shared this personal story about how with the right education, men can be integral in the fight against FGM. Education is critical in this fight.

Muslim rights activist Raquel Saraswati advocated a bold, zero tolerance approach.

Thank you so much to everyone who participated. Please keep spreading the word about FGM, and join us on Twitter for future conversations with @ClarionProject.
