The Nation of Islam’s headquarters is located at Mosque Maryam.[1] It says it “want[s] our people in America whose parents or grandparents were descendants from slaves, to be allowed to establish a separate state or territory of their own—either on this continent or elsewhere.”[2]

The Nation of Islam (NOI) demands that a new blacks-only country be supplied by “our former slave masters” for 20-25 years. It wants the release of all Muslims from federal prisons and all black people on death row to be freed. It also is against intermarriage and race-mixing between whites and blacks and says blacks shouldn’t have to pay any taxes. The organization believes that “the first judgment will take place as God revealed, in America.” [3]

The NOI headquarters at Mosque Maryam was purchased with a $3 million loan from Libyan dictator Muammar Qaddafi. The organization’s leader, Louis Farrakhan, reacted angrily to his death in 2011 and predicted that the U.S. would be judged for its involvement in his overthrow.[4]

Farrakhan has a long history of anti-American, anti-Semitic, anti-white and conspiracy-filled preaching.

Farrakhan preaches that the U.S. was “built on violence” and “the prophet gave America one of those names as a beast—both of the book of Daniel and in the book of Revelations.”[5] He has said that “every plague that is written in the Koran is going to come to pass in America.”[6] He theorized that the school shooting in Newton, Connecticut was punishment from God for U.S. drone strikes and was “chickens coming home to roost.”[7]

He condemned the 9/11 attacks as “vicious and atrocious” on “the greatest nation on this earth” but preached that it was Allah’s response to the country’s “moral decline.”[8] In a letter to President Bush in December 2001, Farrakhan claimed that the U.S. government has a history of making false accusations against Muslim leaders to “cover their real purposes.”[9]

Farrakhan has called white people “blue-eyed devils.”[10] He believes that “murder and lying comes easy for white people”[11] and preaches “I will fight to see that vicious beast go down into the lake of fire…”[12] He also has said that “white people are potential humans — they haven’t evolved yet” and has referred to “the white man” as the “anti-Christ.”[13]

He preached that U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger hatched a plot to murder 2-3 billion people and suggests that AIDS is part of a covert U.S. genocide against blacks.[14] In 2005, he said he knew that the New Orleans levees were “blown up” during Hurricane Katrina, possibly in order to destroy the local black population.[15]

Farrakhan’s anti-Semitism includes referring to Jews as “bloodsuckers.”[16] He has also condemned “wicked Jews, the false Jews” in Hollywood for promoting homosexuality.[17] In 1991, NOI’s newspaper published an article that said the number of Jews killed in the Auschwitz concentration camp “was a blatant lie.” NOI had a well-known Holocaust denier speak to its members in Chicago about “international Zionism.”[18]

“Some of you think I’m just somebody who’s got something out for the Jewish people. You’re stupid. Do you think I would waste my time if I did not think it was important for you to know Satan?” Farrakhan says.[19]

[ad] He claims that President Bill Clinton’s scandal with Monica Lewinsky was a Zionist plot to punish him for refusing to meet with a senior Israeli official.[20]

In 2006, Farrakhan said, “These neocons and Zionists have manipulated Bush and the American government and our boys and girls are dying in Iraq and in Afghanistan for the cause of Israel, not for the cause of America! Israel is the trail waggin’ the dog, which is America.”[21] In 2011, he said that “Zionists dominate the government of the United States of America and her banking system.”[22]

In September 2012, he met with Iranian President Ahmadinejad.[23] Farrakhan predicts that God will destroy U.S. cities if Iran is bombed.[24] He also praised the Hezbollah terrorist group in 1996:

“They call them [Hezbollah] terrorists, I call them freedom fighters … No one asks why they would do such a thing. Why would they do such a thing?… That’s what the U.N., the U.S. and Europe doesn’t want to deal with because the Zionists have control in England, in Europe, in the United States and around the world.”[25]

In 2006, he said that the communist revolution in Cuba “represents the seminal stage of … the Kingdom of God.”[26] He also said that Allah is protecting Fidel Castro from the U.S.[27] He has also praised Robert Mugabe, the dictator of Zimbabwe[28] and President Omar Bashir of Sudan, who has been indicted on charges of genocide, spoke at NOI’s national conference in 2007.[29]
