When Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated Conor McGregor in UFC 229 this week the fighting didn’t just take place in the ring; after Nurmagomedov’s victory a free-for-all explosion of Islamic honor violence erupted ostensibly to protect the victor’s honor.

Clarion’s Shireen Qudosi explains why that’s bad for the religion, women and others who are the victims of honor violence.
