Clarion’s National Security Analyst and director of the Clarion Intelligence Network Ryan Mauro talks to Fox News about President Trump’s pledge to make Assad, Iran and Russia pay a “big price” for the latest Syrian chemical weapons attack.

Mauro says Trump must respond to the attack and forcefully, since his limited strike a year ago after a similar chemical weapons attack obviously did not serve as a deterrent to Assad. In the event of a strike, Mauro warns that Americans will be bombarded with disinformation and conspiracy theories from Russian, Iranian and pro-Assad propagandists trying to convince the public Assad is innocent and an ally against jihadists.

Mauro also cautions against embracing Turkey in order to build an anti-Assad coalition. Instead, he calls for stronger support for the Syrian Democratic Forces, America’s allies comprised of a coalition of Kurdish, Christian and Sunni Arab forces in northern Syria.
