Watch this powerful short film about a member leaving the Muslim Brotherhood, one of the world’s largest Islamist movements. After 15 years in the organization, which he joined at the age of 13, Mohamed Louizi reveals why he left and offers an insiders look on how the Brotherhood operates.

“The Muslim Brotherhood came to fill the free time of the youth,” he says of his indoctrination. Once grown up, Mohamed began to question the movement’s extremist ideology. He now works to prevent radicalization. “If I manage to convince three, four, five people, it’s already a lot. Because one radicalized person is one too many,” he says.

U.S. Islamist organizations like the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) are linked to the Brotherhood.
