Iran is constantly developing new missiles such as the Fateh Mobin, unveiled on August 13. What is always worth watching is the timing of these formal ceremonies. The Iranians are under the cosh right now after a tougher U.S. sanctions package kicked in on August 6, with the country’s currency in freefall.
Presenting the new missile right now sends a clear message to the White House and Pentagon: Don’t mess with us.
High on the list of fears in D.C. and among the Arab Gulf states lead by Saudi Arabia is any Iranian threat to the Strait of Hormuz – the key waterway out of the oil-rich Gulf region.
The Fateh Mobin is reportedly capable of hitting land and sea targets, can evade radar detection and was successfully tested for pinpoint accuracy.
