Freshman Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is gearing up for a re-election race in 2020 for Minnesota’s 5th district, and reports of 3rd quarter donations have already pushed her over over the million dollar mark.
CBS Minnesota reports that Omar raised $1.1 million dollars between July 2019 through September 2019, with the average donation amount totaling $14.55.
The donations have been coming in for Omar despite her history of vitriolic anti-Semitic comments, questions of campaign financing violations and a rushed divorce from her husband, following allegations of an affair with her political consultant, Tim Mynett. The affair was cited by Mynett’s wife when filing for a divorce from Mynett.
The news of Ilhan Omar’s 3rd quarter donations tallying over a cool million is especially challenging to the league of counter-Islamists who often struggle to find funding for their work.
Some counter-Islamists have noticed that in recent months, Omar most likely received some media coaching following a round of soft interviews that showcases a “softer” and more polished Omar.
More recently, Omar, along with Congresswomen Rashida Tlaib and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, joined Islamist-apologist Linda Sarsour in endorsing Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders for the 2020 presidential race.
