Women and Sharia Law is a book by academic and human rights activist Dr. Elham Manea, who also sits on Clarion Project's advisory board.

The book focuses on issues of legal pluralism, specifically in the UK, where the prevalence of sharia councils has led to problems where Muslim women in the UK are not afforded the full legal protections they are entitled to under British law, since they are relying on sharia councils to provide solutions to family issues in accordance with an imam's interpretation of sharia, rather than the British family courts.

Commenting on the book, fellow UK-based women's rights activist and academic Yasmin Rehman said, "This book must find its way to every lawyer, activist, feminist and those concerned with a defense of the universality of human rights."

Clarion sat down with Dr. Elham Manea to ask her about her new book.

Women and Sharia Law is available on Amazon.
