Clarion Project is honored to partner with the Counterterrorism Education Learning Lab (CELL) to bring you an exclusive webinar with two special guests: former Islamist extremist Dr. Tawfik Hamid and terror survivor Kay Wilson.
Hamid is an Islamic thinker and reformer, and a former Islamist extremist from Egypt. He was a member of Jamaa Islameia, a radical Islamist organization in Egypt, with Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri, who has been the leader of Al-Qaeda since June 2011.
After he had an awakening of conscience, Hamid recognized the threat of radical Islam, and started to teach modern and peaceful interpretations of classical Islamic core texts.
Hamid is the author of Inside Jihad: How Radical Islam Works; Why It Should Terrify Us; How to Defeat It.
Kay Wilson is the survivor of a brutal machete attack by Palestinian terrorists that occurred while she was guiding a tour in Israel in December 2010. Since the terror attack, she has spoken to audiences all over the world about her ordeal.
Wilson is also a representative of Palestinian Media Watch. She lobbies Western governments to end the foreign aid that rewards her would-be murderers and other like them.
Together with a Palestinian friend, she has created “The Yellow Brick Road,” an educational project that teaches Muslim children in a refugee camp emotional intelligence, empathy and courage. Wilson is also the author of The Rage Less Traveled, an account of her attack and her path back to life and purpose.
