Did Qatar just agree to a new US Naval base in its country during the emir’s recent visit with President Trump? The base, which is 143 miles off the coast of Iran, and covers six percent of Qatar, is designed to cover all the sea-faring security needs of the country.

It’s also a great place for America to use to counter the recent Iranian provocations in the Gulf.

The base is in addition to the Al Udeid Air Base southwest of Doha, which houses the Qatari Air Force, U.S. Air Force, Royal Air Force, and other Gulf War coalition personnel and assets. The base is also host to a forward headquarters of United States Central Command and headquarters of United States Air Forces Central Command.
