The Oklahoma chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) says its mission is to “enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.”
CAIR-OK board chairman, Saad Mohammed, is an activist against sanctions on Iran.
In February 2014, CAIR-OK campaigned against two bills that would require public schools to recite the Pledge of Allegiance daily. It said that it was an infringement of the First Amendment, even though the bills allow dissenting students to decline from participation.
