In the midst of one of the biggest economic crises in U.S. history, presidential candidate Bernie Sanders wants the U.S. to give $75 million to the Palestinian Authority and the Gaza Strip.

Both areas are run by governments that support and incite terror. In Gaza, a U.S.-designated terror organization, Hamas, literally is the government.

Sanders’ request came in a letter sent to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. The letter, signed by eight Democratic senators, was spearheaded by ex-Democratic presidential candidate Senator Elizabeth Warren and Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD).

President Trump shut down most aid to the Palestinian Authority in 2018 after the passage of the Taylor Force Act, which prohibited giving funds to the Palestinian Authority due to its policy of paying salaries to terrorists and their families. In 2016 alone, the PA paid out $303 million in terror benefits.

The act was named after Taylor Force, a West Point graduate and army veteran who was murdered by a Palestinian terrorist while on a Vanderbilt University graduate school trip in Israel.

The senators want the money — ostensibly to combat COVID-19 –to be sent out through the Fiscal Year 2020 Appropriations Act, which doled out $75 million in humanitarian and developmental aid to the Palestinian Authority.

To date, the Gaza Strip, a densely-populated area, has reported 12 cases of the virus. The PA has reported 134 cases with one death.

Just like Sanders’ recent request of the U.S. government to lift sanctions on Iran due to the corona outbreak, this equally misplaced policy proposal would be used to put cash into the hands of terrorists who have shown the world numerous times that they care more about murdering Jews and Israelis than taking care of the health and welfare of their own people.

Ironically, the best and most direct COVID-19 aid that the people of Gaza are receiving is coming from Israel. Contrary to reports in the media claiming that Israel maintains a siege on Gaza, it is Egypt that has closed its border crossing with Gaza, effectively blockading the territory.

For the past four years, during peace or war, Israel has allowed the flow of goods into Gaza with the exception of weapons and a small list of dual-purpose items that can be used for terror.

Not only does food, medicine, fuel and aid enter freely at all times, but in peacetime, commodities and consumer goods of every type are transferred daily from Israel to Gaza through their common land crossing.

Even the UN, which has continuously and unfairly attacked Israel since the country’s inception, praised Israel for its “excellent” cooperation with the Palestinian Authority in fighting the virus. In addition, the Palestine branch of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs – hardly Israel’s cheerleader –noted in a report the “unprecedented cooperation on efforts [between Israel and the Palestinian Authority] aimed at containing the epidemic.”

It is astonishing how Bernie Sanders and other Left-wing politicians continually turn a blind eye to the promotion and execution of terror by Palestinian Authority officials and the Hamas government in Gaza and seek to line the pockets of these criminals with American taxpayers’ hard-earned money.

Although Sanders will most likely lose his presidential bid to Joe Biden, Sanders – and his cohorts, including Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez – have succeeded in pulling the Democratic party to the far Left.

Previously, the party would have vehemently eschewed support for terror groups. But now, it is not only openly accepted but embraced.

This latest push by Sanders, to have Americans pay for terror, is just one of many policies we will see enacted if he and his ideological ilk are re-elected.
