Congress Examines Alleged Foreign Influence Networks Operating in U.S.

The House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on South and Central Asia scheduled a Sept. 15 hearing titled “Trojan Horses: Covert Foreign Malign Influence Operations in America” to examine how activists, nonprofits, media operations and social media influencers may advance the interests of foreign adversaries including China, Iran and Cuba. Subcommittee Chairman Bill Huizenga, R-Mich., alleged that adversarial governments use American social media influencers as proxies to promote their propaganda.
Fox News said its reporting has examined alleged foreign-influence networks involving political organizing, overseas travel, media operations and financial relationships. A five-part Fox News investigation analyzed 223 transactions totaling $591 million between 2017 and 2025 within a network connected to American-born technology entrepreneur Neville Roy Singham, who lives in Shanghai. Fox News reported that $278 million flowed from Singham into six nonprofit organizations that it characterized as disseminating pro-China and anti-American messaging.
Among those organizations was CodePink, co-founded by Singham’s wife, Jodie Evans. Fox News reported $1.33 million in Singham-linked funding to CodePink and described the group as supporting Cuba, China and Iran; CodePink and other organizations cited in the investigation have denied wrongdoing and characterized scrutiny of their activities as anti-communist “witch hunts.” Singham had not responded to Fox News’ repeated requests for comment.
