- Northern Virginia salon owner Fatana Karimi refused service to a client at her permanent makeup studio in Alexandria, Va., after learning the woman was Jewish and half-Israeli, according to the Combat Antisemitism Movement. Karimi told the client she could not provide service to an Israeli because it was against her political beliefs and ordered her to leave.
- As the client gathered her belongings, Karimi began recording her, chanted “Free, free Palestine” and demanded that she apologize for what Karimi described as “genocide,” the report states. According to the client, Karimi also told her she should be ashamed of herself and her people and continued recording after the client asked her to stop while changing out of a treatment shirt.
- The client requested a full refund, which Karimi refused, according to the report; the client’s bank subsequently refunded the charge. Karimi later defended her refusal to provide service in a video posted online.
