  • Stefan Day Rowold, 37, of Wiggins, Miss., was sentenced to 360 months in federal prison after a jury convicted him of civil rights and arson charges.
  • Prosecutors said Rowold broke into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Wiggins on July 5 and July 7, 2024, vandalized the interior with hateful messages, and set fires using hymnals, paintings, and other religious items as kindling.
  • After the first fire failed to destroy the building, Rowold returned two days later to set a second fire. The congregation could not hold services for months, and the court ordered $176,564 in restitution. READ MORE
