  • Everardo Gregorio, a 31-year-old Arizona resident from Casa Grande, was indicted by a federal grand jury on November 18, 2025, for obstruction of the free exercise of religious beliefs by fire, stemming from the arson attack on Khal Chasidim synagogue. A state arson charge is also pending in Pinal County.
  • On March 3, 2025, Gregorio allegedly set fire to the synagogue, completely destroying its Jewish worship space, kosher grocery store, and restaurant, in an act investigated as a targeted hate crime against a religious institution.
  • The federal charge carries a maximum of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Read More
