  • Aws Mohammed Naser, a 37-year-old former resident of Westland, Mich., was convicted by a federal jury after a five-week trial on charges of attempting to provide material support to ISIS and for being a felon in possession of a destructive device.
  • Naser attempted to travel to Syria in 2012 and 2013 to join ISIS, was denied boarding at airports in Detroit and Chicago, and after a 2013 armed robbery conviction, engaged in creating social media accounts to access ISIS propaganda, solicit explosives information, and experiment with manufacturing explosives and operating drones.
  • Naser faces up to 20 years in prison for the material support charge and up to 15 years for possessing a destructive device. Read More
