- Kamilia Chadli, 36, was charged with second-degree felony assault after allegedly attacking Diana Gonzalez, 36, in downtown Seattle on Sept. 18. According to police, Chadli threw a food wrapper at Gonzalez, made racist and homophobic remarks, spat on her and pulled her to the ground.
- Prosecutors alleged that Chadli bit a roughly 1-inch-wide piece of flesh from Gonzalez’s forehead, leaving an injury requiring surgery and likely permanent scarring. Responding officers reportedly recovered a piece of flesh that Chadli had spat into a nearby grate. A witness pursued the suspect and alerted a courthouse marshal.
- Chadli was detained on $150,000 bail. Authorities were investigating the attack as a possible hate crime. The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office said such a charge could be added if the evidence satisfies Washington state’s legal requirements.
