- Okaloosa County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 12-year-old Fort Walton Beach, Fla., girl after a threatening social media post targeting students at Pryor and Bruner middle schools circulated on TikTok. School resource officers, patrol deputies and investigators worked with the Okaloosa County School District to identify the person behind the post.
- The post included images of what appeared to be an assault rifle, two pistols and a hunting rifle. Investigators traced its IP address to a Fort Walton Beach-area residence and identified a Pryor Middle School student living there; authorities said evidence was also found on the girl’s cellphone. Investigators determined she did not appear to have access to weapons and deemed the threat not credible.
- The girl, whose name was not released, was charged with two felony counts of making a written or electronic threat to commit a mass shooting and one count of using a communication device to facilitate a felony.
