Michael Sam Teekaye Jr., 22, of Hanover, Md., pleaded guilty Jan. 30 in federal court to attempting to provide material support to ISIS.
Investigators said Teekaye planned to travel through Turkey to Somalia to join the group and researched locations in Maryland where he could kill Jews and supporters of Israel; he also attempted to purchase an assault rifle but was denied because he was on probation.
He was arrested in October 2025 at Baltimore/Washington International Airport before boarding an international flight and faces up to 20 years in federal prison, with sentencing scheduled for July 8.
