  • Muhammed Momtaz Al-Azhari, 26, of Tampa, Fla., has been sentenced to 18 years in federal prison for attempting to provide material support to ISIS.
  • Al-Azhari had previously spent time in prison in Saudi Arabia for supporting terrorism in Syria before being removed to the U.S.
  • In 2020, Al-Azhari began to plan attacks in support of ISIS and scouted locations in the Tampa Bay area for potential targets.
