Al Falah Institute

The Al Falah Institute (AFI) is a mosque located in Farmington Hills, Michigan. According to the AFI website, Sohel Mangera serves as the Imam/Director [1].  According to his LinkedIn profile, prior to his time at AFI, Mangera served as Religious Minister/Educator at the Tawheed Center of Farmington Hills [2].  According to the Tawheed Center Youth Conference 2012’s website, Mangera served as the head Imam and Director of Islamic Studies at the Tawheed Center. He is also an active member of the Ulama Council of Detroit [3].  The Tawheed Center is affiliated with the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT) [4].

Additionally, while there is apparently no formal relationship with the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), Mangera has been involved with ISNA events in the past [5].

In 2007, both NAIT and ISNA were labeled an unindicted co-conspirator in the Hamas-fundraising trial of the Holy Land Foundation. The U.S. government listed both among “individuals/entities that are and/or were members of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood.” [6]

Additionally, Imam Mangera has expressed dissatisfaction with the FBI’s use of informants to monitor the Muslim communities [7].
