The Connecticut chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations says it “helps fulfill the CAIR mission by helping Connecticut Muslims become active, participating members of society.”[1]
On February 6, 2014, CAIR-CT executive director Mongi Dhaouadi quoted Hassan al-Banna, the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood.
On November 29, 2013, Dhaouadi posted a link on Facebook to an article titled, “Unpacking Anti-Muslim Brotherhood Discourse.” He commented, “If only some of us would listen!” The previous day, he promoted an event with a founder of Tunisia’s Islamist party, Ennahda.
On December 22, 2013, CAIR-CT’s fundraised with the assistance of the radical Imam Siraj Wahhaj ofĂ‚Â Masjid At-TaqwaĂ‚Â and Hassan Shibly of Ă‚Â CAIR-Tampa, another individual with a history of extremist statements. The theme was, “Islamophobia: 3 Faces of the New Racism.”[2]
In August 2013, CAIR-CT protested the Egyptian government’s crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood. Dhaouadi said the U.S. should retaliate by cutting financial aid.[3] He did not call for cuts when the Brotherhood controlled Egypt.
