15 Years for Florida Mosque Vandal

A man in Florida was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for vandalizing a mosque in central Florida.

In an incident that was caught on camera, Michael Wolfe, 37, smashed the windows and lights of the mosque with a machete and left bacon there. He will spend an additional 15 years on probation after release.

He pleaded guilty to criminal mischief to criminal mischief to a place of worship. His sentencing entails a hate crime enhancement and the fact that he was a habitual offender. 

The incident took place in January 2016.

In 2016 there were 127 instances of anti-Muslim assault and 144 instances of anti-Muslim intimidation, according to Pew Research.
